Filing of nominations for first phase polls from Mar 28

Thiruvananthapuram, Mar 27 (UNI) The filing of nominations for the first phase of Assembly polls in Kerala will begin tomorrow.

The election notification will be issued tomorrow and in the first phase, 59 Assembly constituencies in Idukki, Kottayam, Alappuzha, Pathanamthitta, Kollam and Thiruvananthapuram will go for polling on the April 22.

The elections in the state are held in three phases and the notification for the second phase would be issued on March 31 and the third phase on April five.

In the second phase, 66 Assembly constituencies in Kozhikode, Wayanad, Malappuram, Palakkad, Thrissur and Ernakulam would go to vote on April 29.

The third phase on May three will involve only 15 constituencies in the northern districts of Kannur and Kasaragod.

The last date for filing nominations for the first phase is April four and the scrutiny of papers would take place the next day. The last day for withdrawal is April seven.

The main contenders Left Democratic Front and United Democratic Front (UDF) have already finalised heir list of candidates. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has also released their list of candidates.
