Decision on tabling the Bill by this evening: CM

Mumbai, Mar 27 (UNI) Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh today told the State Assembly that a decision on tabling the Supplementary Appropriation Bill, which is still pending clearance from Governor S M Krishna, will be taken by this evening.

Responding to a point of order raised by Mr Gopinath Munde (BJP), Mr Deshmukh said he had met the Governor yesterday and the latter is expected to give his decision by this evening.

Mr Munde wanted to know why the supplementary appropriation bill was not listed for tabling today even though Finance Minister Jayant Patil had categorically told the House on Friday that the bill would be tabled on Monday.

Shiv Sena member Datta Nalawade said the House should know what has transpired between the Governor and Government. Mr Munde said it was for the first time in history of the state that the supplementary appropriation bill could not be tabled.

''This has happened because of the government's own wrongdoings.

Despite constitutional provision where the Governor's directives are binding to provide for an equitable distribution of funds to all regions in the State, the government has always violated the norms'', he said.
