Dalits resort to agitation on EO's suspension

Chittoor, Andhra Pradesh, Mar 27 (UNI) Several Dalit activists today staged a dharna against the suspension of Kanipakam Varasiddi Vinayaka temple executive officer here.

The agitators staged a dharna before the Zilla Parishad (ZP) meeting hall yesterday, demanding the District Collector to hear their objections to the suspension of temple Executive Officer G Kesavulu.

They said the Government should revoke the suspension immediately for ensuring justice to the officer.

They alleged that some landlords had tried to tarnish the image of Mr Kesavulu, known for his honesty and integrity.

The agitators submitted a memorandum to the District Collector S S Rawat, demanding revocation of the suspension The Collector assured them, to bring the matter to the notice of the higher authorities.

Security has been tightened to prevent any untoward incident.
