CPI releases list of candidates for Assembly polls

Thiruvananthapuram, Mar 27 (UNI) The Communist Party of India, a partner in the Left Democratic Front (LDF) in Kerala, today released the list of candidates for the April-May Assembly polls.

Releasing the list here, party state secretary Veliyam Bhargavan told reporters that tickets had been denied to those who had contested for more than two times, except for four senior leaders including Mr K P Rajendran, Mr K E Ismail, Mr Jose Baby and Mr Mankode Radhakrishnan.

Of the 24 seats contested, it would field 12 new faces, including two women, he informed.

Admitting that there had been some delay on part of the Front in starting the campaign, senior CPI leader said the atmosphere was quite conducive for the Front's victory as people in the state were against the UDF.

Mr Bhargavan said the party did not feel that DIC(K) candidates would pose a challenge to the CPI in Hosdurg and some other constituencies.

Mr Pallipram Balan (Hosdurg), Mr Binoy Viswam (Nadapuram), Mr K E Ismail (Pattambi), Mr Jose Baby (Mannarkkad), Mr K P Rajendran (Kodungallur), Mr Kanam Rajendran (Vazhoor), Mr R J Anjalose (Alappuzha), Mr K R Chandramohan (Pathanapuram), Mr Kullakkara Dinakaran (Chadayamangalam), Adv N Anirudhan (Chathannur), Adv N Rajan (Kilimanoor) and Mr Mankode Radhakrishnan (Nedumangadu) are the names of candidates.

The new faces in the fray are Adv K Raju (Punalur), Mr K Moideen Koya (Thirurangadi), AIYF state secretary Adv V S Sunil Kumar (Cherpu), Mr Rajaji Mathew Thomas (Ollur), Mr M K Chandran (Mala), Ms Fathima Abdul Khader (Nattika), Mr K M Dinakaran (Paravoor), Mr Babu Paul (Muvattupuzha), Ms E S Bijimol (Peerumedu), Mr K Ajith (Vaikom), P Thilothaman (Cherthala) and Mr C Divakaran (Karunagapally).
