Bhattacharjee pays last respects to Biswas
Kolkata, Mar 27 (UNI) Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee and his cabinet colleagues were among the hundreds of mourners, who paid their last respects to CPI(M) leader Anil Biswas as his body was kept at the party's state headquarters today.
Industry Minister Nirupam Sen, Health Minister Suryakanta Mishra, Housing Minister Gautam Deb also placed wreaths on the body of the departed leader.
A number of CPI(M) Polit Bureau members, including General Secretatry Prakash Karat and CITU President M K Pandhe had already arrived in the city to bid adeau to their departed comrade.
The body of Mr Biswas was kept overnight at Peace Haven before being taken to his residence and then to the party office this morning.
According to the wishes of Mr Biswas, his body would be donated for medical research.
Party leaders and workers would take out a procession with the body at 1630 hours before handing it over to the authorities of Nilratan Sarkar Medical College and Hospital.
