Arrangements nearing completion for polls: Official

Pathanamthitta, Mar 27 (UNI) All arrangements for the coming Assembly Elections in the district is nearing completion, District Collector B Asok today said.

Round-the-clock Control Rooms had been opened at district headquarters and taluk centres have been provided with touch-screen systems to verify the respective voters lists, he told reporters.

Around 2,400 employees were enlisted for election related duties, he said and added Electronic Voting Machines would be installed at all polling booths. A total of 1,000 machines had been allotted for the purpose.

The Collector who is also the District Returning Officer said nomination papers would be received from tomorrow. Submission of papers would end on April four and scrutiny held on April five.

Nomination papers could be withdrawn till April seven.
