Amarmani permitted to vote in RS polls tomorrow

Lucknow, Mar 27 (UNI) The Lucknow Bench of Allahabad High Court today permitted incarcerated Uttar Pradesh MLA and former state minister Amarmani Tripathi to vote in the Rajya Sabha elections tomorrow.

Tripathi and his wife Madhumani are prime accused in the Madhumita Shukla murder case.

Justice Rakesh Sharma passed the order on a petition filed by the legislator.

The court ordered that Tripathi would reach the state assembly under security and complete the process of voting within two hrs.

Later, he would return to Lucknow jail under the same security. SSP and other state officials have also been given related directions.

Tripathi's petition was opposed by CBI counsel Visheswar Nath.

Madhumita, a Lucknow-based poet, was shot dead in cold blood at her Paper Mill Colony residence on May 9, 2003. She was pregnant at the time of the incident.

Later, medical tests confirmed that Tripathi had fathered her foetus.
