Workers do not get proper care from the garden: Bhattacharjya
Siliguri, Mar 26 (UNI) West Bengal Urban Development and Municipal Minister Ashok Bhattacharya today held the tea planters responsible for present poor status of workers in the tea estates of North Bengal.
Addressing the Annual General meeting of Terai Indian Planters Association (TIPA) here, Mr Bhattacharya said the planters were not taking adeauaste care of the gardens as well as the workers that led to poor economic health of the tea industry.
He said the owners were only after profit and thereby neglecting the weelfare of the workers.
He said the government was trying its best to make the workers of the tea industry happy.
Mr Mohini Das, the spokesman of TIPA said that there were so many problems in the tea gardens of North Bengal.
