Tech edu must encourage innovation
Hyderabad, Mar 26: Atomic Energy Commission (AEC) Chairman and Secretary Department of Atomic Energy Dr Anil Kakodkar has stressed the need for technological education to nurture the culture of innovation, which would transform youth into a huge 'human capital' and make the country one of the powerful nations of the world.
Delivering the 22nd convocation address of the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU) here yesterday, he said, ''We should recognise an opportunity to innovate and have the ability to come up with a solution based on available knowledge, technology and raw material''.
Innovative solutions suitable to meet the needs of users, which could be realised at a more competitive costs would go a long way in value addition, leadig to economic progress, he said.
Stating that the challenge before the education system was to produce empowered youth who would pull the country up the ladder, Dr Kakodkar said research, development of applications, demonstration and field deployment should be seen as a chain of interlinked activities that had to be pursued in close coordination.
Governor Rameshwar Thakur and JNTU Vice Chancellor Dr K Rajagopal were also present on the occasion.
