Sonia provided a befitting reply to opposition: Jaiswal
Allahabad, Mar 26 (UNI) Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Sriprakash Jaiswal today said Congress President Sonia Gandhi, by quitting the Lok Sabha membership and chairpersonship of National Advisory Council (NAC), has provided a befitting reply to the opposition parties.
Interacting with newspersons here, Mr Jaiswal said opposition parties including BJP and Samajwadi Party attempted to undermine the persona of the UPA chairperson on the 'office of profit' issue but Ms Gandhi had provided a befitting reply to the opponents by sacrificing both the important posts.
Mr Jaiswal also dared the opposition parties to direct their MPs and legislators holding office of profit to replicate Ms Gandhi's feat.
He further said the sole aim of the opposition parties was to tarnish the image of Ms Gandhi by raising the issue, but their expectations fell flat due to AICC president's timely decision.
Earlier at the third convention of Uttar Pradesh Jaiswal Mahasabha, the union minister was honoured with the ''Jaiswal Ratna Samman.'' UNI JL ARS PK KN1954
