Sonam Dubal to host solo show in Lakme week on March 29

Mumbai, Mar 26 (UNI) Style crafts the contemporary with the traditional intuitive force as there is a deep association between a meaningful past and the present, says designer Sonam Dubal, who is hosting a solo show on March 29 at the Lakme Fashion Week.

Calling his Fall-winter 2006-2007 ''Cosmic Romance'' collection an inspiration of the Shamanistic rituals which brings alive the cultural vivacity of the eastern Himalayas-- he said, it is a civilisation through the memories of ancestors, rituals perfected over generations, a press release here said.

Sonam, a graduate from the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), said a mixed cultural background gave me access to diverse and rich traditions. ''This helps me in creating a unique signature style. My forte lies in creating a combination of Indian and oriental styles. This involves silhouettes that are pan-Asian in nature.'' According to Sonam, his clothes are all about sensibility where colours are linked with nature be it rustic, brown, cobalt blue, cream, red, burgandy or emerld green. Textiles come alive for him as he perceives the personality of the medium.

Sonam, who started his career with Rohit Khosla, believes in a strong sense of Oriental spiritualism so relevant in its wisdom and magnanimity, especially today, which guides his every stitch.
