Phagwara railway station bomb threat a hoax

Phagwara, Mar 26 (UNI) Services continued uninterrupted today despite a bomb threat at Phagwara railway station today.

However, the GRP, the RPF and the local police took all precautionery measures to avoid any untoward incident.

More than a kilometre of railway lines on each side from the station were thoroughly searched by the police besides intense frisking of the passengers.

GRP SP (Operation) Tulsi Ram said that high alert has been sounded at all the railway stations of Firozepur division by Phagwara SS RK Suman after receiving the letter of threat.

He said that search operations were being carried out at all the railway stations to prevent any untoward incident.

''Though it seems to be a mischief by a unknown miscreant, but security forces are not taking any risk,'' he said.
