Mulayam a 'God' for SP supporters

Lucknow, Mar 26: After Mayawati, now Samajwadi Party president and Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mulayam Singh adav is being projected as a 'God' by his party workers and supporters.

A series of 'yajnas' and religious functions are being organised by party activists for the well being of their leader -- giving him the status of a God.

UP minister of state for co-operative Sharda Nand Anchal is holding an all religion meeting here today to pray for his well being.

Yesterday, the Prajapati community had organised a puja for him.

In a special function in front of the Vidhan Sabha yesterday, about 100 priests performed a special 'puja' and a 'Mahamrityunjay Jaap' for the CM.

Earlier, BSP supremo Mayawati was termed Goddess by her party supporters and even her statue was installed at the Prena Sthal in the state capital. She had inaugurated Prenra Sthal in a grand function.

Although, the CM himself was not present at the venue, the puja was performed before his life size image.

''We are doing this especially for the health and long life of Netaji,'' one of the priests said.

Dayaram Prajapati, the person behind the entire function, told UNI the CM was not keeping well and the ceremony was held for his well being.

Mr Prajapati -- state president of the SP Rashtriya Prajapati Mahasabha and Chairman of the UP Nagrik Parishad, enjoying a Cabinet rank -- claimed Mr Yadav had fulfilled all demands of the community, hence ''we are worshipping him like god.'' ''The Prajapati Samaj will be performing similar pujas and jaap at all district headquarters,'' he added.
