KMK to support AIADMK for Assembly elections
Chennai, Mar 26: The Kaivinaignar Munnetra Kazhagam (KMK) today extended its support to the ruling AIADMK-led Democratic People's Alliance (DPA) for the upcoming State Assembly elections on May 8.
Announcing this at a press conference here, KMK President Ram Shanmuganthan and General Secretary Deiva Sigamani said they were satisfied with the AIADMK rule under Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa and hence decided to extend their support to her in the elections.
Party Founder President K P Subbaiyan appealed to Ms Jayalalithaa to include the KMK in the AIADMK Front and allot at least two seats to them.
However, even if they were not given any seats there will be no change in the decision to support the AIADMK.
Hailing the KMK's decision, DPA General Secretary Thol Thirumavalavan, who was present at the press conference, said the KMK was the 179th organisation to come forward in support of his party.
Mr Thirumavalavan asserted the AIADMK Front will sweep the elections by winning more than 200 seats as there was a ''wave of peace'' in Tamil Nadu.
