Health Insurance Scheme for Media

Mysore, Mar 26 (UNI) Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa today said that Health Insurance Scheme would be introduced for the media persons in the State.

Speaking after inaugurating Health Checkup Camp organised by the Mysore Reporters Guild here, he said that the Scheme would cover not only accredited Journalists but others working in the sector.

Mr Yediyurappa said that the budget allocation to the Department of Information has been increased to Rs 5.78 crore from Rs 2.8 crore and he was ready to release more funds through Advertisements to help the Small and Medium Newspapers in the State.

He said that the implementation of budget proposals would be reviewed once in three months to ensure that the programmes reach the needy.

Mr Yediyurappa said that the Mysore City would be developed as a biggest tourist destination and necessary facilities would be provided to the investors.

He said that necessary steps would be taken to clear the hurdles to take up the modernisation and upgradation of the long pending Mysore airport.
