HC Bench: Hiremath's indefinite fast enters second day
Dharwad, Mar 26 (UNI) Several organisations came out in support of Dharwad Bar Association President B D Hiremath's fast unto death agitation, which entered the second day today, urging early commencement of construction works for setting up of a circuit bench of the Karnataka High Court in the city.
Talking to reporters here, Mr Hiremath said he was upset over the government not earmarking funds in the budget for 2006-07 for the purpose. He would not withdraw his fast till the commencement of the construction work, he added.
Revenue Minister Jagadish Shettar's efforts to persuade Mr Hiremath to withdraw his fast also failed. Though the Minister assured him that funds would be released by tomorrow, Mr Hiremath refused to give up the fast until he got a firm and practical assurance from the government.
