Five killed,36 injured in road accidents in HP

Mandi, Mar 26 (UNI) Five people were killed and 36 injured in two separate road accidents in Himachal Pradesh in the last 24 hours.

Three people were killed and one person seriously injured when their vehicle fell into a gorge, at Khoti Nullah on the Mandi-Manali Highway here, police said.

The dead have been identified as Jai singh, Tej Ram and Rattan Chand. Tej Ram's son Lalit was injured in the incident.

Irrigation and Public Health (IPH) Minister Thakur Kaul Singh expressed grief, and directed the district administration to provide immediate relief to the relatives of the deceased and injured.

Meanwhile, two devotees were killed and 35 others injured yesterday in Una district of the state when their truck overturned at Palkwah village while negotiating a sharp turn, police informed.

Police believes speeding to be the cause for accident, truck driver who fled from the site has been arrested. A case has been registered and investigations are on.
