Written by: Staff

Malda, Mar 26 (UNI) A CPI (M) activist was killed and five others were injured when miscreants threw bombs at the party office at Chalksari village in this district of West Bengal, police said today.

District Superintendent of Police Dilip Mondol said six Congress activists, including block leader Shamin Skaikh, were arrested in this connection.

District Left Front Convenor Jiban Maitra alleged that Congress supporters had been targetting the party office at Chalksari block ever since it was set up recently.

He claimed the injured were involved in a party programme last night when the Congressmen attacked them with bombs and other lethal weapons in which Alam Saikh (30) died on the spot.

The injured were admitted to a local hospital.

Additional policemen were deployed in the area to restore peace.
