BSNL exhorts employees to put TN Circle on top

Pondicherry, Mar 26 (UNI) Principal General Manager, BSNL Tamil Nadu circle T S Kupusamy has exhorted BSNL employees to work with dedication to make Tamil Nadu Telecom Circle number one in the country.

Distributing the 'Sanachar Seva Padaks and Sancharsarathy awards 2004-05' here yesterday, he said already the Tamil Nadu circle has achieved the distinction of being the best in the country with lowest fault rate, and also winning four national awards last year.

Mr Kuppusamy said the broadband capacity would be increased from the present 20,000 to one lakh before August, and the cellular phone connections would also be increased, keeping in view its increased demand.

He said the waiting list in the Tamil Nadu Circle will soon be cleared and efforts were being made to provide telephone on demand.

Steps were also taken to provide telephone connections within a week to people registering in any of the exchanges, he said.

Cell phone towers were also to be increased, he said, adding that this year 1100 towers were proposed to be set up, of which, already 600 were commissioned.

Referring to the internet connectivity, he said there were at present 1.40 lakhs customers and this will increase considerably with broadband becoming more popular.
