AP distributes 19 lakh job cards under NREGP
Hyderabad, Mar 26 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today said the State Government has distributed 19 lakh job cards to the beneficiaries of National Rural Employment Guarantee Programme (NREGP) being implemented in 13 districts in the State.
Exhorting the officials concerned to ensure that necessary arrangements were made in the villages to build confidence among farming community, who were migrating the towns for employment at a review meeting here, he said the Government had sent a letter to the Centre to allocate Rs 700 crore funds towards first instalment for grounding the scheme.
Dr Reddy said no machines would be allowed under NREG, and stringent action would be taken against the persons, who deployed machines, instead of villagers for the works under the scheme.
Stating that the arrangements have also been made to open post office accounts for the beneficiaries, Dr Reddy said the payments to the farmers could be made through the village organisations, wherever post office facilities were not available.
