5 naxals, SPO killed in Chhattisgarh

Jagdalpur, Chhattisgarh, Mar 26 (UNI) Five naxals, including two women, were killed today in an encounter with police between Kutru and Karkeli hills in Bijapur police district, police said.

Eight guns and naxal literature were also seized.

The police was on their trail as late last night, the rebels killed Kutru SPO Shelam Budhram and severely injured Kortha village's former-sarpanch Ghiswa Bota. The naxals also torched four houses.

Local villagers are appointed SPOs and were granted honorarium to help the police in extremism-affected areas.
