48.81 lakh ration cards issued to in Haryana

Chandigarh, Mar 26 (UNI) The Haryana Food and Supplies Department has so far issued 48.81 ration cards to the consumers in the state for availing benefits under the Public Distribution System.

Deputy Chief Minister Chander Mohan here today said out of these, 40.72 lakh ration cards had been issued to the people living above the poverty line while 5.76 lakh to those living below the poverty line.

He said 2.32 lakh ration cards had been issued under the Antyodya Anna Yojana.

Mr Chander Mohan said total 2.26 crore consumers would get benefit under various ration cards including green, yellow and Antyodya scheme.

He said that as many as 1.86 crore units would be covered under the green ration cards schemes while 28.71 lakh units would be benefitted under the yellow cards scheme.

He said 11.50 lakh units would get the benefit under the Antyodya Anna Yojana.

The Deputy CM said under PDS, wheat, rice, sugar and kerosene was being distributed to the consumers through 9177 fair price shops operating in the rural and urban areas of the state.
