42 Indian fishermen held by Pak authorities, says GFA

Ahmedabad, Mar 26 (UNI) At least 42 Indian fishermen have been held by Pakistani Coast Guards (PCG) from the deep sea off Jakhau port, Gujarat Fishermen Association (GFA) vice president Velji Masani claimed today.

Mr Masani told UNI here that at least 42 Indian fishermen, mostly from Gujarat, along with seven fishing boats, fishing nets and other equipments were held by PCG yesterday.

He said the incident was narrated to the GFA by fishermen who had managed to sail back safely.

Mr Masani said five of the seven boats, carrying 27 fishermen, had reached Karachi port today while the other two, with fifteen fishermen, were still at sea.

The Indian Coast Guard have been intimated about the incident and urged to initiate action at the official level to secure release of the fishermen, Mr Masani added.
