Beed, Mar 25 (UNI) Bharipa Bahujan Mahasangh president Prakash Ambedkar charged the Democratic Front (DF) government with lack of sensitivity over an incident in the district where a dalit woman was paraded naked and assaulted by a group of villagers, and termed it a total failure of law and order in the State.

He along with the party's National General Secretary Rekha Thakur and National Vice President Hanumant Upre met the victim at the civil hospital where she is currently recuperating, and inquired about her health.

He told mediapersons here that the incident was a shameful act for the police and accused them of shielding the guilty instead of providing protection to the victim. He charged the DF government for their insensitivity over the issue.

The 35-year-old dalit woman was allegedly paraded naked and was later badly assaulted by a group of people at Chausala village in this district on March 20. The incident is believed to be a fallout of an old rivalry.

The rural police have arrested three persons including two women and a deputy sarpanch of Chausala village in connection with the incident.

Inspector General (Special) of Aurangabad Range Bhagwantrao More told reporters here that stern action would be taken against the accused and special arrangement would be made to prevent the occurrence of such incidents in the future.
