About 350 kg silver seized

Chennai, Mar 25: Police arrested 13 persons for attempting to smuggle unaccounted silver ornaments weighing 346 kg, worth Rs 35 lakh, from a private omnibus near the airport here.

Police said on a tip off, a special police party of the Central Crime Branch yesterday intercepted the bus coming from Salem and effected the seizure.

The silver ornaments were being transported without any valid or supportive documents, not paying sales tax, police said.

Further investigations were on.
