Bhopal, Mar 25: About 25 Congress MLAs from Madhya Pradesh today (Mar 25, 2006) submitted their resignation to party chief Sonia Gandhi in New Delhi to express their solidarity with her on the office of profit issue, party sources said.

Party leader Ajay Singh said the legislators tendered their resignation to reaffirm their faith in the leadership of Ms Gandhi, who had taken a bold step by quitting as Lok Sabha member and NAC chairperson.

Mr Indrajit Kumar Patel, another MLA, said the BJP leaders, who held dual office of profit, had not come forward to quit their offices even on moral grounds.

State Congress spokesman Manak Agrawal said the legislators met Ms Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and pleaded for liberal Central assistance to provide relief to farmers affected by hailstorm and unseasonal rains in the state recently.
