We will stand firmly behind Sonia - Imkong
Kohima, Mar 24: Congress leader I Imkong today (Mar 24, 2006) hailed the resignation of Sonia Gandhi, but insisted there was no need for her to resign as the head of National Advisory Council as it did not fall under the purview of office of profit.
The leader of the Opposition in Nagaland Assembly Mr Imkong said, ''Mrs Gandhi has once again shown her wisdom and she has become taller by such action to convey to the people that she would not hesitate to sacrifice in the interest of the party and the nation''.
Mrs Gandhi has led by example, he added.
''We, the members of Congress party feel proud and we stand firmly behind her to express our solidarity,'' Mr Imkong said.
He urged all party members in Nagaland to not be confused by the happenings in Delhi and support her.
