US tech stocks open up on Google; blue chips flat
NEW YORK, Mar 24 (Reuters) U.S. tech stocks rose at the opening on Friday as news that Google Inc. will be added to the benchmark S&P 500 index boosted sentiment about the Web search company.
The Dow and S&P indexes were flat, with investors cautious before new home sales data at 10 a.m. (1500 GMT/2030 IST).
The Dow Jones industrial average was down 2.33 points, or 0.02 per cent, at 11,267.96. The Standard&Poor's 500 Index was down 0.15 points, or 0.01 per cent, at 1,301.52. The Nasdaq Composite Index was up 4.58 points, or 0.20 per cent, at 2,304.73.
