Two candidates file nomination for Bengal polls

Kolkata, Mar 24 (UNI) Altogether two candidates have so far filed nomination papers in Purulia, Bankura and West Midnapore districts of West Bengal for the first phase of assembly election as the Governor today issued notification setting the countdown.

According to the Election office, Mr Tarapada Chakraborty of All India Forward Bloc submitted his nomination paper as a Left Front candidate from Onda constituency, while Mr Japani Paramanik of the SUCI filed candidature from Chhatna constituency--both in Bankura.

While details were yet to be received from West Midnapore district, no nomination was filed in Purulia district, the Election office said.

Polling will be held in 45 constituencies of the three districts, on April 17.
