Hyderabad, Mar 24 (UNI)Andhra Pradesh Revenue Minister Mr Dharmana Prasada Rao today said that the present government was again taking steps to strengthen the SETWIN project for providing self-employment to the youth in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad.

Replying to questions by T Padma Rao, Nayani Narasimha Reddy of the TRS and Syed Ahmad Pasha Khadri of the AIMIM during the question hour, the minister said that the government had already appointed a full-time Chairman and MD to revamp the project.

He said a proposal for buying 100 buses for the SETWIN was also under the active consideration of the government and the Chief Minister Dr Rajasekhara Reddy would soon take a decision on it.

Mr Padma Rao had alleged that even corrupt officials were being re-employed and crores of rupees of public money was being swallowed.

The Minister said that an officer facing charges was re-instated on the direction of the court. The government would take a suitable decision after the court verdict.

Mr Padma Rao also complained that the RTA authorities had seized and auctioned 22 buses of the SETWIN as road tax was not paid and the whereabouts of the remaining 50 busses was not known. He also alleged that some unscrupulous elements were operating buses in the capital in the name of SETWIN unauthorisedly.

The Minister assured the member that he would examine the matter and if any busses were plying unauthorisedly, he would initiate action.
