Sensex opens with gain and crosses 10,900 mark
Mumbai, Mar 24: The benchmark index of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) opened with a gain of 10 points at 10,851.80 points as compared to the last close of 10,840.59.
Yesterday, the 30 share BSE Sensitive Index (Sensex) had closed absolutely flat at 10,840.59.
Sensex was leading with a gain of 62 points at 10,903 at 1109 hrs on the back of around 1.80 per cent gain in the BSE indices of Metal and FMCG companies.
The index touched a high of 10,923 in the first hour of trade.
The top Sensex gainers were ITC, Hindalco, Larsen&Toubro, Reliance Energy, Grasim Industries, Satyam Computers, SBI, Maruti, Hero Honda and Tata Steel.
BSE indices of Oil&Gas and Health Care companies were under pressure.
The few losers on the Sensex were ONGC, Bharti Tele and Dr Reddy's Lab.
The National Stock Exchange (NSE) S&P CNX Nifty index opened unchanged at 3,247.15 from the last close and was trading at 3,262 with a gain of 15 points at 1123 hrs.
