New chief for Eastern Fleet

Visakhapatnam, Mar 24 (UNI) Rear Admiral D K Joshi today took over as the Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Fleet from Rear Admiral Sanjeev Bhasin at a ceremonial parade held at Naval Dockyard today.

The new Fleet Commander is an Anti Submarine Warfare Specialist who has held a number of prestigious appointments both afloat and ashore. He had served as a specialist onboard INS Androth and destroyer Ranjit, as the fleet ASW Officer of Eastern Fleet and commanded major ships like Aircraft Carrier Viraat, missile corvette Kuthar, and destroyer Ranvir, an Eastern Naval Command release said today.

Rear Admiral Joshi is an alumnus of Naval War College, Newport, USA and had been Directing Staff and Senior Instructor at Defence Services Staff College at Wellington. Earlier he had been the Principal Director of Personnel at Naval Headquarters and served on deputation as Defence Advisor to Singapore.

For his distinguished service he had been awarded the Yudh Seva Medal, Nausena Medal and Vishist Sewa Medal.

Rear Admiral Bhasin has now been appointed as Director General of Project Seabird.
