Kenya's Ochichi wins 5,000m final
MELBOURNE, Mar 24 (Reuters) Kenya's Isabella Ochichi won a thrilling women's 5,000m final at the Commonwealth Games today.
Silver medallist in the Athens Olympics, Ochichi fended off a last-lap challenge from England's Jo Pavey to win her first major championship gold medal in a time of 14 minutes 57.84 seconds.
Pavey held on for silver in 14:59.08 with Kenya's Lucy Wangui Kabuu, the 10,000m champion, taking the bronze in 15:00.20 at a packed Melbourne Cricket Ground.
