Gorakhpur, Mar 24 (UNI) Elaborate security arrangements have been put in place for free and fair bypolls to the Kauriram assembly constituency of this district slated for tomorrow.
Senior Superintednent of Police Dipesh Juneja said here today that the entire constituency has been divided into seven zones and 33 sectors, where security will be supervised by SDMs and Police Circle Officers.
All the polling booths will be manned by adequate deployments of police and CRP personnel, he added.
A total of 3.26 lakh electorate, including over 1.44 lakh women will exercise franchise to elect their representative out of the seven candidates in fray.
The main contest was likely to be between ruling Samajwadi Party candidate Ram Bhuwal Nishad and Shital Pandey (BJP). The Congress has fielded Shiv Shambhu Nishad, but the BSP had not put any candidate.
The by-election was necessitated by the quashing of the election of Ram Bhuwal Nishad by the Supreme Court.
