Kashmir engineer arrested accepting bribe

Srinagar, Mar 24 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Vigilance Organisation a Junior Engineer arrested while accepting a bribe from a contactor for releasing his payment.

A VO spokesman said Mushtaq Ahmad Kaloo of Roads and Buildings department, Handwara division in north Kashmir was caught red handed when he was accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000 from a contractor.

The contractor, who had completed constructions of Magam Wogbal and Cheramandi Pazalpora roads, was asking the Executive Engineer and the Junior Engineer of concerned divisions to release payment of his bills.

However the Junior Engineer (JE) demanded Rs 1.60 lakh from the contractor as commission for releasing the payment in his favour.

The contractor later approached VO and a team of official laid a trap and arrested the JE while accepting the first installment of bribe.
