Hyderabad, Mar 24: Andhra Pradesh Assembly Speaker K R Suresh Reddy abruptly adjourned the assembly today ( Mar 24, 2006) when the main opposition Telugu Desam Party stalled the proceedings demanding that the state Government must place the files relating to the alleged rs 400 crore fraud in the Sripadasagar Project today itself.

After the tea break, when the House was scheduled to take up a discussion on the welfare of Backward Classes under rule 304, TDP Legislature Party Deputy Leader T Devender Goud insisted that the Speaker fix a time for his party to examine the files in the chambers of Major Irrigation Minister P Lakshmaiah as promised by Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy.

The House plunged into pandemonium as the TDP members rushed to the well of the House and kept raising slogans ''we want files'', even as the Speaker appealed to them to see the files after seeking an appointment.

As the TDP members refused to budge and insisted that he give a direction, the Speaker maintained that ''I am not a post master'' and adjourned the House for the day.
