Governor refers memorendums to EC

Ranchi, Mar 24 (UNI) Jharkhand Governor Syed Shibtey Razi today said he had received memorendums demanding disqualification of some members of the Assembly for holding offices of profit.

A Rajbhaban communique said that the same had been referred to the Election Commission. The Governor has taken the decision under Article 192 of the Constitution.

A delegation of Opposition UPA met the Governor on March 22 at Rajbhavan and submitted a memorendum demanding the disqualification of four ruling NDA legislators, allegedly holding offices of profit.

The Governor had reportedly assured the delegation that he would take appropriate action under the provisions in the Constitution.

Chatruram Mahto, Koria Munda, Saryu Roy(all BJP) and Kheeru Mahto(JD-U) were the four ruling party MLAs, who are allegedly holding offices of profit.
