Dravida Peravai's plea to EC

Pondicherry, Mar 24 (UNI) The Dravida Peravai today urged the Election Commission (EC) to advice the President to dismiss a few Congress and independent legislators in the union territory of Pondicherry holding office of profit in various boards and corporations.

In a letter to the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC), Dravida Peravai General Secretary N Nandhiverman said the Commission being a neutral body, above petty politics, was morally bound to recommend the disqualification of members holding office of profit.

He also brought to the notice of the CEC that local body elections had not been held in the union territory for more than 38 years.

Mr Nandhiverman also wanted the CEC to advice the Centre to frame regulations to stop multiple pensions for the same person.
