Application for Article 102, 103 applicable to all: BJP

New Delhi, Mar 24 (UNI) The BJP today said application of Article 102 and 103 of the Constitution should be applicable to everyone including the Lok Sabha Speaker.

A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting of all top BJP leaders, including Leader of Opposition L K Advani and party President Rajnath Singh, who reviewed the situation arising out of the resignation of the Congress President Sonia Gandhi for her post of the Chairperson of National Advisory Council (NAC) and also Lok Sabha membership.

The party said her decision to resign was more of a compulsion rather than an act of sacrifice.

''Tyaag nahi nautanki hai, naitikta nahi majboori hai (It is not sacrifice but a drama, it is not morality but compulsion)'' a top party leader told newspersons after the meeting.

The BJP also overwhelmingly felt that the judgement of the Supreme Court on the Bihar Assembly dissolution was not merely against the Governor but the whole Union Cabinet and even the President.

It has had a sobering effect on all who wished to promulagate an ordinance exempting the NAC chairmanship from the cover of office of profit, party sources said.

The party was also of the opinion that the petition submitted by BJP General Secretary Ananth Kumar to the President yesterday compelled Mrs Gandhi to act the way she did, the sources said.

The party said the petition was cogent, logical and elaborate instilling fear in all those who wanted to promulgate the ordinance.

''Thus , the ordinance could not have been promulgated easily,''they said.
