Amrita may re-enter GCMMF: Bharwad
Anand, Mar 24 (UNI) After the exit of Dr V Kurien from the board of Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF) , possibility of his one-time protege Amrita Patel, Chairperson of National Dairy Development Board (NDDB), re-entering the Federation can not be ruled out, a cooperative office bearer said today.
''She can come into the Federation in a consultative capacity or as a co-opted member. This will help better co-ordination between the GCMMF and the NDDB, which have been on collision path for past several years, because of Dr Kurien's opposition to the NDDB's policies,'' said Mr Mohan Bharwad, chairman of Ahmedabad District Cooperative Milk Producers' Union, better known as Uttam Dairy.
Mr Bharwad, a known Kurien baiter, had challenged the continuance of the octogenarian as Chairman of GCMMF in the Gujarat High Court.
Dr Kurien remained at the helm of the Federation for 33 years before he quit recently.
Talking to newsmen, Mr Bharwad, however, denied the GCMMF's board today held any discussion on the issue of successor to Dr Kurien.
But at the same time, he said '' they were trying to elect a person unanimously '' to fill the vacancy caused by Dr Kurien's exit.
The GCMMF board is made up of Chairmen of 12 district milk marketing federations in Gujarat.
