36-hour bandh begins tomorrow

Imphal, Mar 24: A 36-hour bandh would begin at 1700 hrs tomorrow at Thoubal district to protest the alleged kidnapping of a police officer by unidentified persons.

Sub-inspector N Kumar of Thoubal district, who had left Tamenglong police station on March 16, is still untraceable, police said. He is suspected to have been kidnapped as his vehicle was found abandoned.

The Joint Action Committee (JAC) has decided to intensify agitation if the police officer was not rescued.

The Committee also said that the police officer should be released 'unconditionally'.
