WCAL express concern over increasing crime against women

Imphal, Mar 23 (UNI) Working Committee of Apunba Lup (WCAL) today expressed concern over crimes committed against women.

The WCAL members said that Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB) personnel had recently molested two girls which led to a major crisis at Maphou Dam and demanded punishment of the IRB personnel.

The organisation alleged that M Naobi was molested by Thoubal police when she was in police custody for almost nine days.

The government had replaced IRB with CRPF from Maphou dam area and ordered a judicial inquiry into the Naobi incident.
