V P Singh to protest UPA's policy towards slum dwellers

New Delhi, Mar 23 (UNI) Former Prime Minister V P Singh will court arrest alongwith supporters here on Monday against the Congress-led UPA Government's policy towards slum dwellers.

According to a spokesman for the Jan Chetna Manch, the former PM will also address a meeting at Jantar Mantar before courting arrest.

The JCM has been demanding enactment of a Slum Act. It says the UPA Government has not fulfilled its pre-electoral promise to provide shelters for urban poor and protect them from municipal bulldozers.

Providing public shelters and livelihood options to the poor should be the topmost priority for any Government, it says.
