TN people shocked over Sonia's decision: TNCC chief
Chennai, Mar 23 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Congress President M Krishnasamy said today the people of the state were shocked over AICC President Sonia Gandhi's resignation from Parliament and the post of Chairperson of National Advisory Council.
Addressing the press here, Mr Krishnasamy pointed out the people had voted for the UPA, especially the Congress, in the Lok Sabha elections to enable Ms Gandhi to become the Prime Minister of the Country.
When Ms Gandhi was ready to lead the country, the BJP, as usual, created unnecessary issues to prevent her from becoming the Prime Minister. The party continious attack on the Congress and Ms Gandhi was highly condemnable, he said.
He said the people of the five states where the Assembly elections will take place during May next, will teach suitable lession to the BJP for pursuing 'meaningless' politics.
The TNCC will organise a state-wide agitation beginning tomorrow to protest against the BJP.
When his attention was drawn to the burning the effigy of the Congress Working Committee Member and Iincharge of the party affairs of Tamil Nadu Veerapa Moily by a section of the partymen, Mr Krishnaswamy condemned the incident and said those involved will be identified and the names forwarded to the party high command for suitable disciplinary action.
