Sonia's resignation under compulsion:Badal

Jalandhar, Mar 23 (UNI) Shiromani Akali Dal(SAD) president and former Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today said that Congress president Sonia Gandhi had resigned from the membership of the Lok Sabha and chair of the National Advisory Council (NAC) in the wake of ''political compulsion.'' Mr Badal told UNI that Ms Gandhi had no other option but to resign as the Congress led UPA Government at the Centre was not in a position to bring an Ordinance to redefine posts of profit.

Mr Badal who was in Khatkar Kalan in nearby Nawanshahr district to pay tributes at the memorial of Shaheed Bhagat Singh on his 75th martyrdom day today, later rushed for New Delhi.
