Sonia's resignation attempt to save face, says BJP
New Delhi, Mar 23 (UNI) The BJP today said that Congress President Sonia Gandhi's resignation from Lok Sabha as well as from the chairpersonship of the National Advisory Council (NAC) was a desperate attempt to ''save her face'' in the midst of developments that have taken place in the last few days.
BJP General Secretary Arun Jaitley said that the politics of revenge had recoiled and Ms Gandhi's offer to resign from the two posts was nothing but the ''confession of a culprit caught red-handed while trying to subvert the Constitution and the democracy.'' In fact the government was proposing to bring an ordinance to save Ms Gandhi's membership with retrospective effect, he said, adding that fortunately ''democracy was alive and media free in India.''
