Rs 25 lakh sanctioned for relief work in Panna

Bhopal, Mar 23(UNI) Madhya Pradesh Revenue Minister Kamal Patel today announced additional allocation of Rs 25 lakh for relief works in flood-hit areas of Panna district.

Mr Patel, in his reply to a call attention notice, said five people were killed and over 27,000 heads of cattle perished and more than 20,000 houses damaged during heavy rains in Panna district in July this year. Compensation of more than Rs 18 crore had already been distributed.

He said relief works on a large scale had been started in the affected areas and nobody would be allowed to migrate in search of work.

Mr Brijendra Pratap Singh, who moved the notice, said several eligible people were yet to get compensation and people were forced to migrate to other places in search of work.
