President to lay foundation stone of Rs 50 crore eco-tourism park
Imphal, Mar 23 (UNI) President Dr APJ Abdul Kalam would lay the foundation stone of a Rs 50 crore eco-tourism park next month in Manipur.
State Tourism and Sports Minister K Govindas said here today, ''The Centre had agreed to promote tourism in the state after the Governor Dr S S Sidhu pursued the matter with centre funds for the park was sanctioned.'' ''Construction of the park, which spread over 260 acres at Nongmaiching hills, would begin soon,'' the minister said.
Indian Tourism Corporation would be the implementing agency for this unique eco-tourism park, he claimed.
A botanical with indigenous medicinal plants, ecological research, education and exhibition units will be the part of the plan, the minister said.
The park would also have separate facilities for sports, games, shopping complex and children's playrooms,'' the minister added.
