Mangalore, Mar 23 (UNI) Senior Congress Leader and Rajya Sabha member B Janardhan Poojary today hailed Party President Sonia Gandhi for tendering her resignation as a member of the Lok Sabha as well as the Chairperson of the National Advisory Council (NAC) in the wake of the Opposition demanding her disqualification as an MP for holding an office of profit.

Talking to UNI, he said that by resigning the posts, Ms Gandhi had clearly sent across the message that she was not after power.

Her move had dampened the opposition's efforts to tarnish her image, he added.

Stating that the opposition National Democractic Alliance had become 'restless' eversince it was ousted out of power, he alleged that in its bid to return to power, its leaders were coming up with one allegation or the other against Ms Gandhi.

Mr Poojary demanded that all MPs, including BJP spokesman V K Malhotra, holding office of profit should tender their resignation.
