Police to minimise vehicle use in Naxal areas
Raipur, Mar 23 (UNI) The Chhattisgarh government has cautioned the security forces deployed in the naxalite areas against using vehicles for patrolling in view the incidents of landmine blasts, State Home Minister Ram Vichar Netam said in the Vidhan Sabha today.
Replying to a call attention notice of Mr Uday Mudaliar (Congress) on the recent landmine blast in Rajnandgaon district, he said the security forces have been asked to carryout patrolling in the naxalite areas on foot..
Referring to the landmine blast in which two policemen were killed, the minister said the police team, which was patrolling the area , had requisitioned a vehicle to return to their base.
Naxalites had triggered a blast, targetting this vehicle, he added.
In view of such incidents, he said, security forces have been asked to avoid using vehicles in the sensitive areas.
